Advanced Roofing | Contractor Spotlight

October’s featured Contractor in the Spotlight is Berke Crawford of Advanced Roofing from Vancouver, Washington. Advanced Roofing is one of PABCO®’s esteemed Preferred Contractors. Berke was one of the very first contractors in the program and on the day we were ready to sign-up contractors, he was prepared with his paperwork.

Berke grew up in Roseburg, Oregon. He began his extensive career in the roofing industry working part-time for Gene’s Roofing in Roseburg as a junior in high school. While he finished high school and attended college, he continued to work part-time for Gene for three more years. He spent the next four years working full-time for Gene’s Roofing and then working a year at Roseburg Roofing to expand his roofing repertoire.

In 1991, Berke made the decision to create his own company and founded Mid Oregon Roofing. Within the first year, Brills Roofing in Vancouver offered to purchase his company. Berke then became a superintendent for Brills Roofing, but quickly realized he needed to be on his own. He was inspired to create his own business and founded Advanced Roofing in Vancouver in 1996. Celebrating their 18th year in the roofing industry in 2014, Advanced Roofing has greatly grown as a reliable and dedicated company that serves the Northwest.

Berke’s business is diversified; his services include residential tear-off and reroofing to new commercial buildings. He has a plethora of notable projects that his company has completed using PABCO® Roofing Products. To name several, Advanced Roofing has roofed four different elementary schools, the district office for Centennial School district in Portland, Autumn Chase Apartments in Vancouver, Holt Military Housing in Everett, Fall City Gymnasium, and Fox Fire Apartments in Corvallis. Berke notes that Antique Black and Pewter Gray shingles are two of the more well-liked colors and sell themselves as beautiful blends.

Berke is an advocate for PABCO® due to our “quality and representation.” He notes that he has never encountered any significant problems with PABCO. Also, anytime he has questions or if a unique situation arises, PABCO is quick to analyze and respond. Advanced Roofing not only leads with PABCO, but they believe in PABCO and share the benefits with their clients. Berke’s home is one of the first in the area to have Paramount® Signature Cut Shingles installed. As a result, he has subsequently roofed many homes with Paramount and Paramount Advantage®. As a survivor of the recession, Berke now sees an opportunity for growth in the company. His plans do include the continued partnership with PABCO in the years to come.

Berke attributes much of his success to his long-time employees. Barry works as an estimator, and Rodrigo and Santiago are his crew leads. Both Rodrigo and Santiago have been with Berke for over 12 years and they believe that quality is of utmost importance, along with timing. With almost a quarter of a century of roofing excellence already in the books, the diligent employees of Advanced Roofing do not plan on stopping any time soon. Berke has already signed contracts for several upcoming projects for this fall and winter.

When Berke is not working, he stays active by spending time on the golf course with friends, riding ATVs, and camping at the sand dunes on the Oregon Coast. Berke is looking into fishing as another hobby he would like to venture into this next year or so. He is also an avid Oregon Ducks fan and enjoys attending football games each year.
