Our Approach to Sustainability
At PABCO® Roofing Products, sustainability is seamlessly integrated into our long-standing commitment to exemplary values and quality. Based in the Port of Tacoma, safeguarding the environment isn’t just important for our operations; it’s integral to our business ethos. This commitment extends to our manufacturing site and local production, particularly in the Northwest and Mountain Regions of the United States and Western Canada. We prioritize manufacturing locally and distributing regionally, with a focus on these areas.
Here’s how we’re leading the way:
-
Commitment to Sustainability: We’re dedicated to making continuous improvements for the benefit of our customers and communities, prioritizing sustainability in every aspect of our operations.
- Environmental Stewardship: Recognizing the impact of the greenhouse effect and climate change, we actively evaluate and adjust our practices to minimize environmental harm throughout the lifecycle of our products.
- Mindful Practices: As a constituent of an industry using fossil fuel byproducts,
we prioritize mindfulness in our practices, actively participating in industry research to reduce our carbon footprint and ensure safety from an overall perspective. - Community Engagement: We engage in activities that enhance community education and quality of life while rigorously maintaining legislative and regulatory compliance.
- Alternative Sources and Resilient Products: We utilize alternative sources to promote longevity and increase the resiliency of our products, while also minimizing wasteful practices.
-
Contribution to Environmental Efforts: We’re proud to contribute to efforts surrounding GHG reduction and other environmental objectives, striving for the betterment of every aspect of our offerings—for the long term.
Harnessing Transparency: The Rising Impact of Environmental Declarations
The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) and its member companies have developed Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for asphalt roofing systems.
This initiative, aligned with ISO 14025 standards, aims to enhance sustainable building practices by offering detailed life cycle information on roofing systems. These EPDs contribute to LEED v4 and v4.1 points in the Building Product Disclosure and Optimization category, encouraging the use of products with transparent environmental impact data. You can find ARMA’s industry wide EPD for Asphalt Shingle Roofing System – Installation Fastened here.
Cool Roofing: Sustainable Solutions for Urban Heat Reduction
Our Premier Radiance® shingles go beyond simply providing your home with a protective cover. These shingles are enhanced with solar-reflective granules that bounce back the sun’s heat-producing ultraviolet rays, potentially decreasing the heat that enters your home and aiding in keeping it cooler. With Premier Radiance, available in four vibrant colors, you won’t have to sacrifice aesthetics for functionality.
Leveraging advanced cool technology from PABCO Roofing Products, the Premier Radiance® solar reflective shingles are an ideal solution for those living in warmer climates where reliance on air conditioning is higher. Furthermore, Premier Radiance® adheres to the UL790 Class A Fire Resistance Standard, offering an added layer of safety and peace of mind.
